There will have a variety of different problems in the use of the shale shaker, one of which is mud loss over shaker.We can find the reasons through continuous analysis and summary.They are mainly focused on high solid content in drilling fluid, high viscosity mud, scattered cuttings and other related factors; or on the small vibration force, the inappropriate screen mesh, the small screen area; also on the direction/position of the screen inlet.We can analyze these factors as follows:
Formation of the drilling layer and mud contents affect the amount of treatment. In another case, when drilled into a loose sandstone layer or flow sand layer, the sand is easy to stuck in the screen hole, causing screen-blocking phenomenon. So it needs to test several different mesh screen to reduce this phenomenon.

The screen mesh is unreasonable. Due to the rapid drilling of the surface layer, resulting in a large number of solid phase occupied the effective screen area. So the fine screen can not be used in shallow wells. Therefore it’s reasonable to use larger hole screen in the initial drilling process, and with the increase in drilling depth, then use finer screen gradually.
Check and make sure the turning-direction of the motor is correct. First remove the vibrator protection shield and check whether the eccentric block rotation of both motors rotated toward the outside. Second, if it is not correct, please exchange any two phase line in the electric control box. There may be two incorrect cases:1.The two motors rotate inward. Although the exclusion of cuttings out, but the speed is slow; 2. The two motor rotation in the same direction. The vibration force is very small, it does not exclude the sand nor recover the mud.
Check the amplitude of the vibrating screen. The greater the vibration amplitude large processing capacity.So we can adjust the vibration amplitude greater if mud loss over shaker occurs.
Check whether the fluid distribution in the screen frame is reasonable. We can control the fluid distribution through adjusting the front spring seat and so on.
